The New Tropicana: The Tiffany of the Strip
The New Tropicana is the Vegas
equivalent of story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears: just right balance of
old school Rat Pack Vegas and new school boutiquey opulence.
Built in 1957 by the creators of the
Fontainebleau in Miami Beach, the Tropicana was called “The Tiffany of the
Strip,” when it opened. And it
seems concept has transcended space and time for this 35-acre hotel/casino; for the second year in a row Travelocity has
awarded the Tropicana its Excellence Award.
The Tropicana recently completed a $200 million transformation that started with a refocusing of their core concept of South Beach luxury, rhythm, and vibe. This makeover included a fresh redesign of every best-in-class room and suite, the 50,000-square-foot casino, more than 60,000 square feet of meeting and exhibition space, several new restaurants and bars.
The hipster
jewel of this transformation is the inclusion of the Bagatelle Supper Club which features
seating for 500 guests in its expansive indoor and outdoor venue that includes
two private dining rooms and a private outdoor dining pavilion. Already home to restaurants in New York
City and Los Angeles, Bagatelle's Euro-chic meets high-octane glam births the
Tropicana into the world of the new Strip experience with Las Vegas’ first
Supper Club.
Those looking for a
different type of daytime experience are bound to welcome the Bagatelle Beach
Club opening in the next few weeks.
This addition will include a 250 seat outdoor restaurant offering
Mediterranean-style dining, a sanded area where guests can enjoy a game of
beach volleyball, and 18 luxury cabanas. The facility will also be home to an
outdoor concert venue with a capacity in excess of 3,000 people.
Set on almost five acres of
the resort, the Trop’s swimming pool was voted the Best Las Vegas Pool. With waterfalls, lagoons, and a lush
tropical garden surrounding it, the pool embodies the vibrancy of the resort’s
South Beach inspired theme. It
also features such classic Vegas details such as the original swim up aquatic
blackjack dealer.
With old school and new school merging for a place where you would never even think of school the Tropicana is truly “Tiffany of the Strip,” a diamond that shines bright in the Vegas desert sand.
